Hotels around Tokyo Disney Resort can be confusing, right? Especially if you’re visiting with kids or it’s your very first trip to Japan. Should you choose a Disney-owned hotel for the full magical experience, or stay at an official/partner hotel nearby to save money? This guide is written for families like Emily’s—first-time visitors to Japan, especially those traveling with children—who want to know which hotel will fit their needs best. By the end of this article, you’ll understand the differences between Tokyo Disney Hotels, official hotels, and nearby budget-friendly options.

1. Which Hotel Should You Choose?

  • Disney Hotels → Best for once-in-a-lifetime memories, families with small kids, or Disney fans.
  • Official Hotels → Great balance of cost, convenience, and comfort.
  • Partner Hotels / Shiomi Business Hotels → Budget travelers, or when you only need a clean place to sleep.

2. Disney Hotels (Official Disney-Owned)

Note: There is also the Tokyo Disney Celebration Hotel. However, because its location is less convenient and not ideal for families with young children, and since we haven’t stayed there ourselves, we decided to exclude it from this guide. For official details, please refer directly to the Disney website.

Tokyo Disneyland Hotel

A Victorian-style palace right in front of Disneyland’s entrance. Perfect for families who want to feel like royalty. Especially recommended for parents with babies or toddlers, thanks to the spacious rooms, princess-themed interiors, and easy stroller access. We stayed here with our daughter and loved how close it was—we could take breaks midday and return quickly.

Hotel MiraCosta

Hotel MiraCosta Piazza View – View from a Tokyo Disney Hotel MiraCosta Piazza room overlooking the Italian-style courtyard.

My absolute favorite Disney hotel—a truly special space where simply staying overnight feels magical. The only Disney hotel inside a park, directly connected to DisneySea. Rooms overlook the harbor (Harbor View), or Piazza, where you can even catch fireworks from your room. And just like the Disneyland Hotel, the direct entrance to DisneySea is the biggest advantage for families with young children—being so close makes it easy to return for breaks during the day.

Disney Ambassador Hotel

Art Deco style, located near Ikspiari shopping mall. Slightly more affordable than MiraCosta and Disneyland Hotel. Popular for Chef Mickey breakfast (currently with Mickey, sometimes Stitch).

Character rooms include exclusive, non-sale original pouches, and some plans even come with character greeting opportunities—definitely worth checking.

Fantasy Springs Hotel

Newest hotel, directly connected to Fantasy Springs inside DisneySea. There are two types of rooms: Luxury Type (Grand Chateau) and Deluxe Type. We’ve only stayed in the Deluxe, which is still high-end and easier to book. The Luxury Type (often called the Grand Chateau) is designed for travelers with a very high budget (over 200,000 yen per night per room). From our experience checking cancellations, the ultra-high price means that the Grand Chateau sometimes shows availability more often than the Deluxe rooms, though it’s still limited and highly competitive. Great for families who want early entry (Happy Entry) and easy access to the new attractions.

Tokyo Disney Toy Story Hotel

A moderate-type hotel, so rooms are smaller than other Disney Hotels, with compact bathtubs and slightly different service levels. However, the Toy Story–themed interiors and the playful courtyard make it feel like a theme park in itself. Families will definitely enjoy simply staying here. Personally, I think it offers the best cost performance of all the Disney Hotels.

2. Official Hotels (Along the Resort Line)

These are not owned by Disney but located right along the Disney Resort Line monorail, making access smooth and easy.

Hilton Tokyo Bay (Our Review)

Spacious rooms, family-friendly amenities, and a reliable breakfast buffet. We stayed here and found it convenient with kids. A great balance of price and comfort. Together with Hotel Okura, it’s relatively close to Bayside Station, so you can walk there. While the immersive Disney theming isn’t as strong as the official Disney Hotels, both Hilton and Okura have Disney shops inside and rooms that are nearly as spacious and comfortable as the deluxe Disney Hotels.

Hotel Okura Tokyo Bay (Our Review)

Classic style, with excellent service and spacious bathrooms. A calmer, more relaxed atmosphere compared to the busier hotels. Also within walking distance from Bayside Station.

👉 Other options include Sheraton Grande Tokyo Bay, Grand Nikko Tokyo Bay Maihama, Tokyo Bay Maihama Hotel First Resort, and Tokyo Bay Maihama Hotel. These hotels often require shuttle bus rides to Bayside Station or the parks, which can be a bit challenging with small children. However, they are generally more affordable, so they can be a good option if you’re prioritizing cost savings.

3. Partner & Nearby Hotels (Budget Options)

If the Disney and official hotels are fully booked or out of budget, you can stay near Shin-Urayasu or Shiomi Station.

Business Hotels near Shiomi Station (Our Review)

We tried three different business hotels here—HOTEL KAIEAPA Hotel Tokyo Shiomi Ekimae, and Tokyo Bay Shiomi Prince Hotel. They’re not fancy, but clean, comfortable, and significantly cheaper. Shiomi Station is on the JR Keiyo Line, and you can reach Maihama Station directly in about 10 minutes without transfers. Overall, it takes about 20–30 minutes door-to-door to the park by train. Ideal if you only need a place to sleep after a long Disney day.

6. Final Thoughts

Hotels near Tokyo Disney Resort can be overwhelming to choose from, but with this guide, you’ll know exactly where to stay—whether you want Disney magic, convenience, or budget savings.

Originally, we often chose budget hotels around Shiomi or Shin-Urayasu to save money. But after staying at Disney Hotels, we completely fell in love with their unique charm. Especially when traveling with small children, the ability to return easily for rest breaks is truly invaluable.
