Welcome gate to Expo 2025 Osaka with crowds entering from the East Gate — start of our family adventure.

In the summer of 2025, our family of three visited Expo 2025 Osaka! We had reserved the 9:00 AM entry slot at the East Gate and came fully prepared to beat the heat. Here’s our firsthand experience and tips for your own Osaka Expo family travel adventure.

✅ First Stop: Electric Power Pavilion – Eggs of Possibilities

Right after entering, we headed straight to the Electric Power Pavilion.

  • The first activity involved carrying a glowing egg and playing a series of energy-generation games.
  • Game time was about 15 minutes; the total experience lasted roughly 45 minutes.
  • At the end, you place your egg on a reader to see how much energy you’ve collected.
  • We made it a family competition… and I came in last!

The first game involved tapping and lifting round discs to generate energy. We each competed with our glowing egg—sadly, I came in last in our family of three!

The second part featured a thrilling challenge:

“Avoid detection by a rampaging egg monster by generating power with your feet!”

We worked together as a team and proudly finished first place. It was a fun and memorable start to our day.

At the end, each person placed their glowing egg on a reader, and the number of collected energy sources was displayed. Our daughter came out on top with 12 sources, winning our little family contest!

🌎 Other Pavilions We Explored

We also checked out these international pavilions:

Japan Pavilion: A creative and cute collaboration between Hello Kitty and microorganisms—surprisingly charming! It even made us want to buy some themed merchandise.

USA Pavilion: Toward the end, massive screens surrounded us from the ceiling to the walls, making us feel like we were on a space journey. That was the highlight of the experience.

France Pavilion: A room surrounded by Louis Vuitton trunks—artful and stylish. Our daughter even said, “This is amazing!”

The Power Pavilion was the family favorite, followed by the USA Pavilion.

🍁 Must-Try Treat: Maple Soft Serve at the Canada Pavilion

Food is half the fun at Expo 2025!

  • We stopped at the Canada Pavilion cafe for maple soft serve, and it was just what we needed.
  • After hours in the heat, it was a refreshing, sweet lifesaver.

🌀 Walking the Sky Ring Toward the West Gate

In the afternoon, we strolled across the elevated Sky Ring toward the West Gate.

  • We had planned to visit the Pasona Pavilion and Future City area,
  • But heat exhaustion hit, and we decided to start wrapping up our day.

We ended with some fun photos with Gundam and Myakumyaku, the official Expo mascot.

🚻 Osaka Expo Family Travel Tips: Lines, Heat & Survival

  • Popular pavilions can have up to 90-minute waits without reservations.
  • Others are more accessible with around a 30-minute wait.
  • Mornings are your best chance to beat the crowds.

☀️ Summer in Japan is Intense! Must-Do Heat Prep

Even in September, the heat is no joke.

What helped us survive:

  • Neck fan
  • Cooling body wipes
  • Frozen drinks from the convenience store
  • Hats and sun umbrellas
  • Foldable chairs or cushion mats (after noon, shady seats are rare!)

If staying into the evening:

  • Take long breaks in air-conditioned food courts or rest areas to avoid heat exhaustion.

Visiting Expo 2025 with kids requires smart planning for both heat and crowds. Stay hydrated, pace your day, and take breaks to make the most of your Japan World Expo 2025 experience.

🚎 Heading Home: Shuttle to Sakurajima Station

  • Around 3:00 PM, we exited via the West Gate.
  • Took a shuttle bus to Sakurajima Station.
  • Had an early dinner near Osaka Station and returned to our hotel.

🏨 Where We Stayed: Super Hotel Yodoyabashi (Higobashi)

With hotel prices surging due to Expo 2025, we chose to stay at Super Hotel Higobashi, which was relatively affordable and fairly convenient to access from Shin-Osaka Station.

  • The area had plenty of restaurants, and a convenience store was located right in front.
  • The room and bathroom were clean and modern, leaving a good impression.
  • Free breakfast and drinks were included during our stay, which was a great bonus.
  • However, for a family of three, the room was quite small—good for a night’s rest, but not a place to relax.
